It’s a New Day for a New Year.

2016 is fastly wrapping up. For some, this has been a great year, filled with victories, new jobs,  and hope. For others, it was a year filled with loss, frustrations, and failures. But one thing is certain, a new day is coming.

Luke 1:78-79;

“A new day will dawn on us from above
            because our God is loving and merciful.
He will give light to those who live in the dark
    and in death’s shadow.
He will guide us into the way of peace.”

When we take a look behind us, knowing where we’ve been, we can have hope that tomorrow will be bright. The story hasn’t been written yet. The idea of tomorrow is placing trust and faith in something we don’t fully understand. When we place our trust in God we are inviting him to guide us in our journey of life.

The world is a dark place and us as Christ-followers are the only people who have the message of hope. That hope resides in our hearts through faith in Jesus Christ. This is the reason he came, to give people the life they are looking for.

The mission of Life Church is to help more people find true life in Jesus Christ. People all around us are looking for answers to the questions they have in life. These questions and hopelessness are the very things that keep some searching for answers.

As 2016 comes to a close and we begin a new year, remember to take the time and help someone find the hope that Jesus has to offer. Remember that God has a plan for your life this new year. Let 2017 be the year where God gives you something new to take your faith to the next level.

He will guide us into the way of life because he is loving and merciful.

YEAR-END GIVING:

Thank you for helping Life Church make such a difference in people’s lives.

In looking back over this year, there were 13 individuals who made first time commitments to follow Jesus. In addition, another 16 individuals made a recommitment to their faith. It’s sometimes hard to see faces in the numbers, but they represent young and old and individuals from both services.

Let me tell you about one. Her name is Jessica. Jessica visited Life Church within the last year. She found herself feeling distance from the Lord. But one Sunday, the Holy Spirit drew her to Life Church where she was reminded of a loving God who cared for her. Shortly, thereafter, she recommitted her life to Jesus and began to grow as she was fed the Word of God each Sunday. Her family has since moved away, but her life has forever changed. This is just one of the dozens of reasons why being a part of Life Church matters – you are making a difference. It’s also a reason why giving is so important. We exist to reach those who are not yet here.

We believe the practice of generosity is a faith discipline. It is a mark of a growing faith in Christ. Sandy and I first connected to Life Church because we saw members who were committed to being genuine followers of Jesus – loving God, serving others and sharing Christ – in short, changing the world one person at a time.

This year, I had the chance to meet a single mom by the name of Robin. Robin grew up in a Christian home but through a series of circumstances found herself single again with three young, vibrant children. Robin was doing everything she could to make ends meet by juggling jobs and baby-sitters. Her faith was discouraged. She also didn’t have a car big enough to hold 3 car seats. With her trade-in and a little help through the generosity of Life Church members, we were able to help her get a different car that met her needs. But most importantly, she recommitted her life to the Lord as her faith was strengthened.

In these final days of 2016, let me encourage you to join me in prayerful consideration for ourselves and for the whole church to give sacrificially and generously. We believe in God’s abundance and our ability to do even greater things this coming year. Our prayer is that we will reach more and more people helping them find true life in Jesus.
